What if you could harness a very powerful resource within you that could impact how you deal with virtually all aspects of your life?
What if you could access this resource whenever you need it? Let me ask you this…what are the emotions you have on a consistent basis? How well do they contribute to your experience of life? Good? Bad? Have you ever thought about why you feel the way you do? Have your ever found yourself in a situation where you were feeling resourceful and you just dealt with things well, versus a time when you were not feeling great and it made the situation worse? Would you like to have a better ability to influence your emotions? What if your emotions were within your influence...how much richer could your life be? We DO our emotions. Yes, that’s correct. We actually DO them. What the hell does that mean? Well, there’s three major parts to what makes up our emotions, that if you learn to harness, can give you the ability you’re seeking - the ability to access the resourcefulness you have inside. The first part is your PHYSIOLOGY. Or rather, your patterns of physiology. This includes your movements, breathing, hydration, expressions, gestures, speed, and other biological factors. You know how you can look at someone and basically “read” their body language to know how they are feeling? Those are body patterns that you are reading, and they are the quickest way to change how you feel. Change your physiology, and change how you feel. Try this, stand up quickly, look at the sky, raise your hands up to the sky palms open, take a nice deep breath, smile and say YESSSSSS. How does that feel? The second part that makes up your emotions are patterns of FOCUS you give to whatever is going on. What are you thinking about? What does it mean to you? What are the questions you’re asking internally and externally? For example, “why did he say that like that?” “does she like this or not?” “why do I always end up in these situations?” Or “what’s great about this?” “what can I be grateful for right now?” The reason I’m using questions as examples is because they control focus…don’t you agree? Perhaps right now you’re actually focusing on questions as to whether or not I’m telling the truth…AND your patterns of FOCUS impact how you feel about what I'm saying. If you change your FOCUS, you will feel different. The third and final part are your patterns of LANGUAGE. This is the syntax of words you use. For example, you can say “hello” in a happy or harsh way. Or, phrases like “I am irritated” versus “I’m so f-ing angry I can’t see straight!!!!”. These have different impacts on how we feel. Even the order of the words change the meaning and the feeling; “James ate the chicken” versus “The chicken ate James”. The language we use, and the way we use it, changes how we feel. These three parts - patterns of PHYSIOLOGY, patterns of FOCUS, and patterns of LANGUAGE are the tools you need to impact how you feel at any given time. You already DO these things in your emotions! You’re a master of it, but perhaps not on a conscious level...yet! All that’s needed is to master the ability to change at least one, and better yet, all THREE, and you will feel different. How does it feel to know you have this power? All that’s left is for you to DECIDE to make a practice of changing your patterns and then following through with it. What will you decide and commit to doing? If you would like assistance, please reach out to me for results coaching or attend one of my live events. I'd love to have the privilege to work with you!
